Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are the cornerstone of all successful organizations. HGRA has been a successful organization over the years because of people like you. Without past, present, and future volunteers, thousands of children in Highland-Groveland and surrounding communities would not have had the opportunity to participate in a local sports program.

Volunteer opportunities are abundant within the HGRA organization. You can use your skills, talents, and energy to make sports programs available to youth of the community. Below are just a few to consider:

Coach/Assistant Coach.  Every sport offered by HGRA is made up of several teams. Teams are not possible without volunteer coaches and assistant coaches. Volunteers in a coaching position have the responsibility of coordinating team practices, attending games, and providing a fun and learning atmosphere for players. The commitment varies depending on the level of play. Orientation and training are provided by the sport commissioners. Previous experience not required.

Team Manager (Soccer): If you aren't comfortable offering to volunteer as a coach/assistant coach, you can help your child's team by being the Team Manager.  You can help with communications between the coaches and players.  For the teams that have non-parent coaches (high school or college players), we need a parent to serve as our primary contact to free up the coaches to concentrate on coaching.
